Collapsible Canes

Collapsible Canes

There are three main reasons why a collapsible walking cane is much better than a full length cane. First, cars are getting smaller, so there simply isn't enough space for a full length cane. Second, a collapsible walking cane is handy if you need a cane but you don't want to carry it just yet. And lastly, a collapsible cane is easy to store because it can be folded and placed into a backpack, briefcase, glove compartment or any other small place in which you want to keep it.

Collapsible canes are generally made of strong, yet lightweight aluminum construction with a double bungee system. These canes also have a non-slip rubber tip that provides solid support and durability to all individuals, regardless of weight.

There are two basic styles of collapsible canes. One is telescopic and the other has an elastic cord (folding canes). Telescopic canes are made of short sections that nest inside each other. Each section is tapered, so that when the cane is extended the large end of one section fits snugly into the small end of the above section. Generally, telescopic canes are not as strong and durable as folding canes. Collapsible canes usually cost around $30 to $45.
